Terracotta Dusk: Capturing the Warm Equinox with Autumn European Charms
September brings memories of corduroy and tights worn much too early, as the day inevitably spikes past 85°, the sun streaming in through slanting, golden light. That fleeting transition—when shadows lengthen and the air carries the scent of a green, warming lake—inspired this styling. Retreating from our endless 120° summer days requires an intentional shift. I’m capturing this transition through the tactile contrast of smooth glass against faceted brown quartz, the tonal beauty of autumn European charms, and the crisp, auditory clink of sterling silver settling onto the carrier.

The fiery warmth of burnt terracotta and rich amber catches the last of the hot, hazy sun, cooling into the deep, grounding shadows of charcoal and smoky quartz in this earthy design.
The Art Director’s POV: Curating the Gradient
Texture and light are everything in this stack. The flow is highly intentional: moving from the hard-faceted, cool Pyrite into the smooth, internal warmth of glass, then transitioning to the textured silver of Trollbeads’ ‘Framed by Nature’ which gives the Sunstone a grounding, organic feel. This contrasts beautifully with the soft, earthy lines of the Kamane Root Threads. The depth transitions from the open blue and purple hints in the Elfbeads Galaxy Flowers Allure, melting into dense, warm ambers, and finally resting in the dark, protective depth of the Trollbeads Smokey Quartz. Curation here is about balancing that journey.
The Educator’s POV: Equinox Energies
Beyond visual color, we look to the tactile energies of the natural materials in this design. Metallic Pyrite anchors the design with a departing cool, grounding weight, the facets give it life and detail beyond just the shine from the metallic surface. The 925 Artisan Golden Healing Quartz and the Sunstone act as solar plexus warmers, bridging the gap between summer fire and autumn reflection. The faceted Smokey Quartz provides deep, protective grounding as the year turns. This combination is a powerful, physical energy shift on the wrist.

The Photographer’s POV: Lighting the Hazy Transition
My approach in the studio was critical to translating this feeling. To capture the “last of the hot, hazy sun,” I utilized soft, diffused warm-white light coming from a low angle to mimic late September afternoons. The wide angle macro lens is essential here to reveal internal structures, like the suspended sparkles in the Elfbeads Golddust Nebula and the internal bands of the Woven Light glass. A shallow depth of field separates these textures, allowing the silver components to catch sharp highlights while the background melts into a soft, golden blur.
